Multi-dimensional:  Our productions are not confined to a traditional stage nor are they necessarily “grounded” in the strict sense of the word. Portico employs trapeze, silks, and other structures to incorporate aerial dance into our repertory. These pieces explore the rarely used topmost dimensions of the typical performance space. As such, we tailor many of our productions to numerous settings and venues, from lush gardens and concrete streets to intimate galleries , black box theatres, and grand arenas.

Multi-faceted: Comprised of working adults and students that have trained extensively in the field of dance, members of Portico hold professional positions in the fields of medicine, accounting, education, psychology, law, and theatre. While this is somewhat unorthodox compared to more traditional dance companies, this integration into the “real” world affords us a unique perspective which fuels our choreography with relatable stories and themes.

Multi-purpose:  Portico Dans Theatre is a 501 © 3 non profit organization under the umbrella of Oklahoma Performing Arts. It is our desire to promote the growth of contemporary dance in the city of Tulsa through collaborative performances and educational opportunities for the community.
